# EBSCO Mobile vs Cengage Read

The clearest difference is rating: Cengage Read at 4.2 against EBSCO Mobile's 3.6. Cengage Read also leads on ratings volume (4.1K vs 78). EBSCO Mobile's advantage is review sentiment (32% vs 20%) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Cengage Read holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cengage Read has 4.1K ratings behind it against 78, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 32% of EBSCO Mobile's written reviews are positive against 20% of Cengage Read's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

EBSCO Mobile ships an update monthly, Cengage Read every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
