# SMC Campus Recreation vs Bold Studios

The clearest difference is monetization model: SMC Campus Recreation at free against Bold Studios's free with in-app purchases. SMC Campus Recreation also leads on iOS requirement (14.0.0 vs 16.0). Bold Studios's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (127 vs 4). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for SMC Campus Recreation against 5.0 for Bold Studios. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bold Studios has 127 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SMC Campus Recreation ships an update every 4 months, Bold Studios monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
