# JTC vs Chinese Language Learning

The clearest difference is monetization model: Chinese Language Learning at free with in-app purchases against JTC's subscription. Chinese Language Learning also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). JTC's advantage is ratings volume (80 vs 3) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. JTC sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Chinese Language Learning sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chinese Language Learning holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: JTC has 80 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

JTC ships an update every 6 weeks, Chinese Language Learning every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
