# restore vs DNS

The clearest difference is ads: DNS at none against restore's shown. DNS also leads on ratings volume (1.4K vs 68) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). restore's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

DNS holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DNS has 1.4K ratings behind it against 68, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 39% of restore's written reviews are positive against 46% of DNS's.

restore ships an update every 3 weeks, DNS weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
