# Picture Fish vs Identifier

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Picture Fish at 5.4K against Identifier's 5. Picture Fish also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 18.0). Identifier's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Picture Fish sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Identifier sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Identifier holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Picture Fish has 5.4K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Picture Fish ships an update every 5 weeks, Identifier fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
