# Volv vs Longform Reader

The clearest difference is rating: Volv at 4.6 against Longform Reader's 3.2. Volv also leads on ratings volume (951 vs 5). Longform Reader's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Volv sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Longform Reader asks for nothing beyond the download.

Volv holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Volv has 951 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Volv's written reviews are positive against 67% of Longform Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
