# Orchid vs Sentinel Shield dVPN

The clearest difference is rating: Sentinel Shield dVPN at 5.0 against Orchid's 4.6. Orchid's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 7 months) and ratings volume (225 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Orchid sells 8 one-off in-app purchases and Sentinel Shield dVPN sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sentinel Shield dVPN holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Orchid has 225 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 66% of Orchid's written reviews are positive against 57% of Sentinel Shield dVPN's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Orchid ships an update every 5 weeks, Sentinel Shield dVPN every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
