# BlockSite vs App Lock

The clearest difference is monetization model: BlockSite at freemium against App Lock's subscription. BlockSite also leads on ads (none vs shown). App Lock's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BlockSite sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and App Lock sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

App Lock holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 6.2K and 5.2K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 61% of BlockSite's written reviews are positive against 58% of App Lock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
