# Step vs Spot Logger

The clearest difference is update cadence: Step at every 2 weeks against Spot Logger's every 2 months. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Step sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Spot Logger sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Step ships an update every 2 weeks, Spot Logger every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
