# Flapjack Octopus Pet vs Whale training

The clearest difference is update cadence: Whale training at every 6 weeks against Flapjack Octopus Pet's every 17 months. Whale training also leads on review sentiment (60% vs 45%). Flapjack Octopus Pet's advantage is ratings volume (43 vs 2) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Flapjack Octopus Pet holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Flapjack Octopus Pet has 43 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of Flapjack Octopus Pet's written reviews are positive against 60% of Whale training's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Flapjack Octopus Pet ships an update every 17 months, Whale training every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
