# Paradigm Shift vs Self

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Self at 67% against Paradigm Shift's 0%. Self also leads on rating (4.6 vs 1.0) and update cadence (every 4 months vs every 46 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paradigm Shift sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Self sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Self holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Self has 23 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 0% of Paradigm Shift's written reviews are positive against 67% of Self's.

Paradigm Shift ships an update every 46 months, Self every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
