# SSH Client vs SSH VPN

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SSH VPN at 77% against SSH Client's 47%. SSH VPN also leads on rating (3.8 vs 3.6). SSH Client's advantage is ratings volume (406 vs 25) and chart position (#55 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SSH Client sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and SSH VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SSH VPN holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SSH Client has 406 ratings behind it against 25, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 47% of SSH Client's written reviews are positive against 77% of SSH VPN's.

SSH Client ships an update every 3 weeks, SSH VPN every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
