# Whisker vs Limpet

The clearest difference is monetization model: Limpet at free against Whisker's free with in-app purchases. Limpet also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). Whisker's advantage is ratings volume (147K vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Limpet holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Whisker has 147K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Whisker ships an update every 3 weeks, Limpet every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
