# Deep Tools vs Slate

The clearest difference is update cadence: Slate at weekly against Deep Tools's every 6 weeks. Deep Tools's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 26.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Deep Tools sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Slate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $29.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Deep Tools ships an update every 6 weeks, Slate weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
