# Private Browser vs Offline

Private Browser and Offline both sit at 4.6 stars, but that hides the real split: 82% of Private Browser's written reviews are positive against 49% of Offline's. Private Browser also leads on iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15). Offline's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (138K vs 4.1K). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Private Browser sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Offline sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Private Browser against 4.6 for Offline. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Offline has 138K ratings behind it against 4.1K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of Private Browser's written reviews are positive against 49% of Offline's.

Private Browser ships an update every 2 months, Offline every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
