# Red Shield VPN vs SwizzVPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: SwizzVPN at free with in-app purchases against Red Shield VPN's subscription. Red Shield VPN's advantage is ratings volume (2.9K vs 166) and review sentiment (75% vs 63%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Red Shield VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month and SwizzVPN sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Red Shield VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Red Shield VPN has 2.9K ratings behind it against 166, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 75% of Red Shield VPN's written reviews are positive against 63% of SwizzVPN's.

Red Shield VPN ships an update every 11 days, SwizzVPN fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
