# Red Shield VPN vs Sechenov

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Sechenov at none against Red Shield VPN's 3. Sechenov also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Red Shield VPN's advantage is ratings volume (2.6K vs 1) and update cadence (every 11 days vs every 6 weeks). On price and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Red Shield VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month. Sechenov asks for nothing beyond the download.

Sechenov holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Red Shield VPN has 2.6K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 76% of Red Shield VPN's written reviews are positive against 67% of Sechenov's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Red Shield VPN ships an update every 11 days, Sechenov every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on October 16, 2026.
