# CardTalk vs Proloquo

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CardTalk at 86% against Proloquo's 46%. CardTalk also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (4.3 vs 4.0). Proloquo's advantage is ratings volume (148 vs 7). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CardTalk sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Proloquo sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CardTalk holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Proloquo has 148 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 86% of CardTalk's written reviews are positive against 46% of Proloquo's.

CardTalk ships an update monthly, Proloquo every 6 weeks. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
