# Paper vs Noble Notes

The clearest difference is monetization model: Paper at free with in-app purchases against Noble Notes's subscription. Paper also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 16 months) and ratings volume (1.7K vs 3). Noble Notes's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 72%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Paper sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Noble Notes sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Noble Notes holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Paper has 1.7K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 72% of Paper's written reviews are positive against 100% of Noble Notes's.

Paper ships an update monthly, Noble Notes every 16 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
