# Director's Cut vs Sofa Time

The clearest difference is rating: Sofa Time at 4.8 against Director's Cut's 4.2. Sofa Time also leads on ratings volume (2.8K vs 5). Director's Cut's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 88%) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Director's Cut sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Sofa Time sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $2.29 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Sofa Time holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sofa Time has 2.8K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Director's Cut's written reviews are positive against 88% of Sofa Time's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Director's Cut ships an update every 11 days, Sofa Time every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
