# xWind vs FlightGauge

The clearest difference is price: FlightGauge at Free against xWind's $0.99. xWind's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ratings volume (550 vs 10). On review sentiment, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

FlightGauge is free to download; xWind costs $0.99 up front. FlightGauge sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $8.99 per month. xWind asks for nothing beyond the download.

xWind holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: xWind has 550 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of xWind's written reviews are positive against 80% of FlightGauge's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

xWind ships an update fortnightly, FlightGauge every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
