# Readability vs MAY ISD

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MAY ISD at none against Readability's 2. MAY ISD also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Readability's advantage is ratings volume (25K vs 1) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readability sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. MAY ISD asks for nothing beyond the download.

MAY ISD holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Readability has 25K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Readability ships an update fortnightly, MAY ISD every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
