# Readability vs Locked In

The clearest difference is monetization model: Locked In at free with in-app purchases against Readability's subscription. Readability's advantage is chart position (#173 vs unranked). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Readability sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month and Locked In sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Readability ships an update fortnightly, Locked In every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
