# OK Alarm vs Comic Reader

The clearest difference is ads: Comic Reader at none against OK Alarm's shown. OK Alarm's advantage is ratings volume (73 vs 5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. OK Alarm sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Comic Reader sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for OK Alarm against 4.4 for Comic Reader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: OK Alarm has 73 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 88% of OK Alarm's written reviews are positive against 84% of Comic Reader's.

OK Alarm ships an update every 3 weeks, Comic Reader every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
