# Screen Mirroring vs CastOn

The clearest difference is rating: CastOn at 4.5 against Screen Mirroring's 2.8. CastOn also leads on ratings volume (5.2K vs 396). Screen Mirroring's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and device support (5 vs 2). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Mirroring sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and CastOn sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

CastOn holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CastOn has 5.2K ratings behind it against 396, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 36% of Screen Mirroring's written reviews are positive against 37% of CastOn's.

Screen Mirroring ships an update every 2 weeks, CastOn every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
