# GetDefensive vs Gleam

The clearest difference is review sentiment: GetDefensive at 100% against Gleam's 47%. GetDefensive also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). Gleam's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 3.0) and ratings volume (12K vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GetDefensive sells 14 one-off in-app purchases and Gleam sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Gleam holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gleam has 12K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of GetDefensive's written reviews are positive against 47% of Gleam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

GetDefensive ships an update every 2 weeks, Gleam every 5 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
