# Cognito vs StudyPod

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Cognito at none against StudyPod's 9. Cognito also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.6). StudyPod's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 60%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. StudyPod sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Cognito asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Cognito against 4.8 for StudyPod. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StudyPod has 59 ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 60% of Cognito's written reviews are positive against 80% of StudyPod's.

Cognito ships an update every 5 weeks, StudyPod fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 7, 2026.
