# COSMOTE File Backup vs Smart Switch

The clearest difference is rating: Smart Switch at 4.2 against COSMOTE File Backup's 1.0. Smart Switch also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). COSMOTE File Backup's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Smart Switch holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Smart Switch has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

COSMOTE File Backup ships an update every 8 months, Smart Switch every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
