# Tayasui Calligraphy vs Writing Notes

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Tayasui Calligraphy at 57% against Writing Notes's 0%. Tayasui Calligraphy also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (261 vs 31). Writing Notes's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tayasui Calligraphy sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Writing Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Writing Notes holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tayasui Calligraphy has 261 ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 57% of Tayasui Calligraphy's written reviews are positive against 0% of Writing Notes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Tayasui Calligraphy ships an update monthly, Writing Notes every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
