# True Wine vs Sake Discovery

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Sake Discovery at none against True Wine's 2. Sake Discovery also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). True Wine's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (557 vs 7). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. True Wine sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Sake Discovery asks for nothing beyond the download.

True Wine holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: True Wine has 557 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of True Wine's written reviews are positive against 100% of Sake Discovery's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

True Wine ships an update monthly, Sake Discovery every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
