# Type Flash vs TypeMania

The clearest difference is rating: Type Flash at 4.5 against TypeMania's 1.0. Type Flash also leads on ratings volume (1.2K vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). TypeMania's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 12 months). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Type Flash sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and TypeMania sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Type Flash holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Type Flash has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Type Flash ships an update every 12 months, TypeMania every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
