# Calligraphy Guidelines vs Calligraphy Tracing

The clearest difference is ads: Calligraphy Guidelines at none against Calligraphy Tracing's shown. Calligraphy Tracing's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.7) and ratings volume (741 vs 15). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calligraphy Guidelines sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Calligraphy Tracing sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Calligraphy Tracing holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Calligraphy Tracing has 741 ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Calligraphy Guidelines's written reviews are positive against 58% of Calligraphy Tracing's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Calligraphy Guidelines ships an update every 3 months, Calligraphy Tracing monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
