# 55 Messenger vs POP

The clearest difference is rating: POP at 3.8 against 55 Messenger's 3.3. 55 Messenger's advantage is review sentiment (65% vs 40%) and ratings volume (77 vs 9). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

POP holds the better App Store score, 3.8 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 55 Messenger has 77 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 65% of 55 Messenger's written reviews are positive against 40% of POP's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

55 Messenger ships an update monthly, POP fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
