# testo Smart vs Pre

The clearest difference is rating: Pre at 5.0 against testo Smart's 2.7. Pre also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 5) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 18.0). testo Smart's advantage is ratings volume (167 vs 1) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. testo Smart sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Pre asks for nothing beyond the download.

Pre holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: testo Smart has 167 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

testo Smart ships an update every 2 months, Pre every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
