# Foam Hunter vs Mantis Laser Academy

The clearest difference is price: Mantis Laser Academy at Free against Foam Hunter's $3.99. Mantis Laser Academy also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (4.1K vs 2). Foam Hunter's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 15) and review sentiment (100% vs 69%). On ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Mantis Laser Academy is free to download; Foam Hunter costs $3.99 up front. Mantis Laser Academy sells 15 one-off in-app purchases. Foam Hunter asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mantis Laser Academy holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mantis Laser Academy has 4.1K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Foam Hunter's written reviews are positive against 69% of Mantis Laser Academy's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Foam Hunter ships an update every 5 months, Mantis Laser Academy every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
