# Castle Founder vs Chess Ultimate

The clearest difference is update cadence: Chess Ultimate at every 4 days against Castle Founder's every 56 months. Chess Ultimate also leads on review sentiment (63% vs 50%) and ratings volume (128 vs 22). Castle Founder's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.1) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 13.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Castle Founder sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Chess Ultimate sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Castle Founder holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chess Ultimate has 128 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of Castle Founder's written reviews are positive against 63% of Chess Ultimate's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Castle Founder ships an update every 56 months, Chess Ultimate every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
