# HMC vs Day Counter

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HMC at none against Day Counter's 13. HMC also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (12.2 vs 15.6). Day Counter's advantage is update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 9 months) and ratings volume (447 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Day Counter sells 13 one-off in-app purchases. HMC asks for nothing beyond the download.

HMC holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Day Counter has 447 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HMC ships an update every 9 months, Day Counter every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
