# SwitchedOn vs King

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: King at none against SwitchedOn's 8. King also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.5). SwitchedOn's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 8 months) and ratings volume (329 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SwitchedOn sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. King asks for nothing beyond the download.

King holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SwitchedOn has 329 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SwitchedOn ships an update every 10 days, King every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
