# Frontier X vs Hilo Core

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Frontier X at 317 against Hilo Core's 3. Frontier X also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.3). Hilo Core's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Frontier X sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month and Hilo Core sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $149.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Frontier X holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Frontier X has 317 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Frontier X ships an update every 3 weeks, Hilo Core weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
