# fanaticTV vs Passes

The clearest difference is rating: Passes at 4.7 against fanaticTV's 4.2. Passes also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs monthly) and ratings volume (642 vs 68). fanaticTV's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and review sentiment (54% vs 45%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. fanaticTV sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Passes sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Passes holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Passes has 642 ratings behind it against 68, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of fanaticTV's written reviews are positive against 45% of Passes's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

fanaticTV ships an update monthly, Passes every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
