# Dance! vs TypeStory

The clearest difference is ads: TypeStory at none against Dance!'s shown. TypeStory also leads on ratings volume (3K vs 41). Dance!'s advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.5) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dance! sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and TypeStory sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Dance! holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: TypeStory has 3K ratings behind it against 41, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Dance!'s written reviews are positive against 63% of TypeStory's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dance! ships an update every 5 weeks, TypeStory every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
