# Knowunity vs Active Recall

The clearest difference is ads: Active Recall at none against Knowunity's shown. Active Recall also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 82%). Knowunity's advantage is update cadence (daily vs weekly) and ratings volume (9.7K vs 20). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Knowunity sells 29 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Active Recall sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Knowunity against 4.7 for Active Recall. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Knowunity has 9.7K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 82% of Knowunity's written reviews are positive against 100% of Active Recall's.

Knowunity ships an update daily, Active Recall weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
