# MagentaTV vs U

The clearest difference is ads: MagentaTV at none against U's shown. MagentaTV also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). U's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MagentaTV ships an update every 2 months, U every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 19, 2026 respectively.
