# Cortex Cloud vs JWGuitar

The clearest difference is rating: JWGuitar at 5.0 against Cortex Cloud's 3.4. JWGuitar also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). Cortex Cloud's advantage is ratings volume (72 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

JWGuitar holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cortex Cloud has 72 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Cortex Cloud ships an update every 6 weeks, JWGuitar every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
