# Forbes Councils vs WordBeacon

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Forbes Councils at none against WordBeacon's 7. Forbes Councils also leads on ratings volume (10 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). WordBeacon's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WordBeacon sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $39.00 per month. Forbes Councils asks for nothing beyond the download.

WordBeacon holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Forbes Councils has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Forbes Councils ships an update every 6 weeks, WordBeacon every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
