# Pathfinder 2e Spell List vs Heartforge

The clearest difference is monetization model: Pathfinder 2e Spell List at free with in-app purchases against Heartforge's subscription. Pathfinder 2e Spell List also leads on ratings volume (43 vs 8) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.4). Heartforge's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pathfinder 2e Spell List sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Heartforge sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 3.7 for Pathfinder 2e Spell List against 3.8 for Heartforge. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pathfinder 2e Spell List has 43 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of Pathfinder 2e Spell List's written reviews are positive against 100% of Heartforge's.
