# Shearer vs EcoPOS

The clearest difference is rating: EcoPOS at 5.0 against Shearer's 4.6. EcoPOS also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 18 months). Shearer's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 75%) and ratings volume (9 vs 2). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

EcoPOS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 9 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Shearer's written reviews are positive against 75% of EcoPOS's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Shearer ships an update every 18 months, EcoPOS every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
