# Tunnel Guard vs DNS Security

The clearest difference is ads: DNS Security at none against Tunnel Guard's shown. DNS Security also leads on update cadence (every 2 days vs fortnightly) and review sentiment (67% vs 46%). Tunnel Guard's advantage is ratings volume (694 vs 72) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Tunnel Guard sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and DNS Security sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Tunnel Guard against 4.8 for DNS Security. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tunnel Guard has 694 ratings behind it against 72, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 46% of Tunnel Guard's written reviews are positive against 67% of DNS Security's.

Tunnel Guard ships an update fortnightly, DNS Security every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
