# Gopass vs CensEV

The clearest difference is rating: CensEV at 4.3 against Gopass's 3.8. Gopass's advantage is ratings volume (110 vs 3) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CensEV holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Gopass has 110 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Gopass ships an update every 3 weeks, CensEV every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
