# LaTeX Editor Tex Pro vs Inkiostro

The clearest difference is rating: LaTeX Editor Tex Pro at 4.8 against Inkiostro's 3.2. LaTeX Editor Tex Pro also leads on ratings volume (1.7K vs 5). Inkiostro's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs paid). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. LaTeX Editor Tex Pro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Inkiostro sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

LaTeX Editor Tex Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: LaTeX Editor Tex Pro has 1.7K ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of LaTeX Editor Tex Pro's written reviews are positive against 60% of Inkiostro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

LaTeX Editor Tex Pro ships an update every 2 months, Inkiostro every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
